The personality development Workshop 'GEM 2023' organized by NTPC Kayamkulam with a focus on girl empowerment has been successfully completed. This camp, which has been conducted as part of NTPC's social responsibility initiatives for the past five years, saw the participation of 38 students aged between 10 and 12 from various government schools in the vicinity.
The month-long residential camp, which commenced on April 22, provided training in academic and non academic subjects to the students. The participants received training in various domains, including yoga classes, dance classes,, self-defence, energy conservation, and life skills.

Alappuzha district collector Ms. Haritha V. Kumar IAS and Shri Sunil Kumar, Executive Director (Ramagundam & Telengana) were the chief guests of the closing ceremony held at the NTPC auditorium on May 23. The District collector, in her address told the parents to allow the children to follow their passion. She emphasised that the children should have a lofty aim and they should work hard to achieve it in their life.

Shri Sunil Kumar appreciated the confidence and courage shown by the girls. Shri Shiva Kumar Ram, General Manager Kayamkulam welcomed all the dignitaries. Smt Usha Kumar, President, Deepti Mahila Samiti, Ramagundam, Smt. Sumitra Ram, President, Navjyoti Ladies Club, Kayamkulam, Smt. Aswathy, President, Chingoli Grama Panchayat and other senior officials of NTPC also graced the occasion.

The GEM 2023 concluded with various cultural programs by the participants.
